We have just returned from one of the most remote islands in the south of the Maldives, Fuvahmulah, after a week full of adrenaline and emotions that are hard to match. From the very first day, we began with a talk about tiger sharks, during which Mark explained their behavior, how to interact with them responsibly, and shared insights about what would become the true stars of our diving week.
And they did not disappoint. We enjoyed tiger sharks on almost every dive, both at the legendary Tiger Zoo and at other sites such as The Wall, which amazed us with their rich marine life: spectacular corals, turtles, and, as a major surprise, an unforgettable encounter with a whale shark while diving.
Just when it seemed the adrenaline could not get any higher, the most unexpected moment arrived. On the final dive, we experienced something that for many had only been a dream: swimming with a family of orcas in the wild. An absolutely magical and unrepeatable encounter that none of us will ever forget.
Out of the water, this experience allowed us to discover the island from the inside: walks through the village, visits to small local handicraft shops, and motorbike excursions along wild beaches, feeling like the Hells Angels. And if there is one memory that still makes us burst out laughing, it is the trip to the mud lakes… some of us are still finding mud even in our ears.
It has been a week full of surprises, laughter, and intense emotions. Our friends discovered a more untouched and authentic Maldives, and many are already planning to return very soon. And that, for us, says it all.
